Formative
moments - each of us has had at least one in his or her lifetime.
Sometimes they change our life immediately, sometimes it takes
some time to notice something has changed. I can still remember
my first encounter with the Skyline some years ago.
It was back in 1996 when I went to school
in Los Angeles, CA, where I met a korean guy who was almost
as crazy about cars as me. Both of us shared the hobby of
building model cars, so once in while we would walk
to the store to see what cars we could work on next. One of
those days, when we searched the store for new cars again,
we discovered a Tamiya model of the R32 Calsonic Skyline.
My friend was really excited about it,
telling me this was the best sports car in the world.
I had never heard of the Skyline before, and judging from
the understated looks, I did not consider this a fast car,
never mind the best sports car of the world.
How do you define the term 'legend'. Usually, we associate
that expression with companies like Porsche or Ferrari, which
dominated the race tracks and have been around for decades.
What I did not know back then was that I had just been introduced
to another legend. The Skyline has not only been built for
over 40 years now (see History),
but can also look back on a racing
heritage that even Porsche's 911 can hardly match.
Unfortunately, hardly anybody outside
of Japan knows about the quality of the Nissan Skyline. It
might not be the best sports car of the world, but it definitely
is right there on top with all the greats like Porsche and
Ferrari - in terms of pedigree, as well as performance. Unfortunately,
hardly anyone outside of Japan knows about the Skyline myth
and the Infiniti G35's roots. The G35 is not just another
mid-size sedan thrown at the market to grap a piece of the
cake. It is the american Skyline version, and as such can
look back on a long line of legendary cars.
With this homepage, we hope to convey
our love for the Nissan Skyline and its derivative, the Infiniti
G35, by presenting you the important
historic milestones on the Skyline's path of becoming
a legend.
We try to offer you objective articles
about all important Skyline derivatives either in the form
of a Road Test or a short Report. Additionally, our own articles
are supported by Comparison tests and other Press
Reports from popular british and american car magazines,
which should help you form your own opinion about this car.
Maybe this is a formative moment for you right now and you
become a Skyline (Infiniti G35)-fan yourself after reading
this homepage. It would be the highest praise to us.
We also want to appeal to people who already
know and love the Skyline and G35. We hope you will find something
useful and interesting here, as well.
Furthermore, we invite you to join our
TOUR our guide through this side. It starts
at the bottom of this page, but can also be joined from any
other page you choose.
No matter if you already are a Skyline-fan
or not, we hope you enjoy your stay at the JB car
pages.
